Behamics is a spin-off of the University of St. Gallen in Switzerland and was founded in 2019 as part of a project with OTTO, Germany’s largest online retailer, to reduce product returns with Behavioral Science. Thilo Pfrang was the project leader and wrote his Ph.D. thesis about the influence of behavioral incentives on the return behavior of online customers.
The project was a great success, and more requests for projects and consulting followed. Working as a management consultant for companies like OTTO or Estée Lauder to help them apply Behavioral Science in their business practice, Thilo was looking for a business partner to make this approach more scalable and combine Behavioral Science with AI. That was the moment Valon Xhafa joined. With his technical background, he brought the AI part to the company. Thilo and Valon combined Behavioral Science and AI to improve the online customer experience and drive customer behavior. And that is still the foundation of our business today.
